At beach level the waves were clearly rising up higher than a house. The people you see in this picture were about half the distance from the camera to the breaking waves. The wind was blowing the water into the high tide area even though we were at low tide. The boulders you see are about six feet long and larger than man-sized.

The entire horizon behind the breakwall at this level was filled with crashing waves. There was no break between them.
